Tehran to host screenwriting workshops by Asghar Farhadi

An educational center in Tehran is to hold screenwriting workshops by filmmaker Asghar Farhadi.

Bamdad House, an educational center in Tehran, is to hold a series of screenwriting workshops by the Iranian Oscar-winning filmmaker Asghar Farhadi.

To be held in June 2017, the workshops are organized under the auspices of Farhadi’s wife Parisa Bakhtavar who is also a filmmaker.

Scheduled to begin on June 11 to go on for seven sessions, the students will receive lessons online via Skype.

Farhadi’s ‘The Salesman’ won the award for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th edition of the Academy Awards this year.

This is the second time that the director brought home an Oscar. In 2012, he became the first Iranian to win the prestigious award for his film ‘A Separation’, which also won the Best Foreign Language award.

Born in 1972, Farhadi is an Iranian film director and screenwriter. Among other awards, he has received a Golden Globe Award.

He was named one of the 100 Most Influential People in the world by Time magazine in 2012.
